The award winners of the Lingnan Culture Studies Research Paper Competition 2022, organized by the Research Programme for Lingnan Culture, Institute of Chinese Studies, CUHK, are officially announced. The Competition aims to promote international academic research on Lingnan culture, as well as to encourage local and overseas doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows who are aspiring to conduct in-depth research in the field. The competition received up to 50 research papers, which are subject to assessment by the selection committee.

The award ceremony will be broadcast on Zoom on 20 April 2023, we are honored to invite Prof. Ching May Bo, Head and Professor of the Department of Chinese and History of the City University of Hong Kong, as the keynote speaker to deliver a talk on an interesting topic “The Lychee is ‘hot’ and the Star Fruit tastes subtle: multiple interpretations of Lingnan local products”.

Prof. Lai Chi Tim, Executive Associate Director of the Institute of Chinese Studies and Director of the Research Programme for Lingnan Culture was awarded RGC Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) 2022/23.
Research Project Title: “Lingnan Culture and the World: Construction and Change in the Cultural Landscape of Cantonese Literati from the late Qing to the Republican era in China (1821–1949)”
Congratulations to Prof. Peter Y. K. Lam, Honorary Research Fellow of ICS, for receiving two gold medal awards.
On 12 October 2021, as part of the centenary celebration the Oriental Ceramic Society, London, awarded the Hills Gold Medal to Prof. Lam for his distinguished contribution to the study of Oriental Art.
And on 16 December 2021, Prof. Lam was also awarded the J.M. Hu Memorial Gold Medal Prize by the Min Chiu Society, Hong Kong, for his contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Chinese Art and culture.
