ICS is saddened to learn of the passing of renowned Hong Kong Sociologist, Prof. Wong Siu Lun, on December 2, 2024. Prof. Wong obtained his DPhil from the University of Oxford in the early 1980s and dedicated his career to the study of entrepreneurship, business networks, and migration. He served as the Chair Professor of the Department of Sociology at The University of Hong Kong before his retirement. Since 2014, he has been an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Research Centre for Contemporary Chinese Culture at ICS, where he co-authored Hong Kong Legends: A Family Business Perspective (2014). Prof. Wong will be greatly missed. May his light continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
