The Genius of Zhuhai

The Genius of Zhuhai

Zhuhai is one of the First Special Economic Zones. It was granted by the United Nations an international award, "The Most Improved Living Environment". Located on the Southern border of Mainland China, Zhuhai is blessed with a favorable natural environment and a good harbor. What did this city look like in the ancient times? According to archaeologists, the history of Zhuhai dates back to 6000 - 7000 years ago. Pottery, stone specimens and metal works are the most common finds in Zhuhai. At the site of Baojing Bay, ancient rock engravings were found. Professor Jao Tsung-I of our university visited the rock engravings at Baojing Bay personally and composed two poems for them. The poems are first published in this book.

The whole book is color-printed. It is divided up into eleven chapters, with the first eight concentrated on selected relics from different time periods, and the rest three focused on the excavation of archaeological sites, ancient rock engravings, and historical monuments respectively. It endeavors to depict the most natural view of the relics of Zhuhai to readers. Besides colored illustrations, there are concise and in-depth descriptions and explanations of some of the cultural relics. This is an important work on the studies of Zhuhai history.
