“China: Tradition and Modernity” is one of the four strategic research foci of the University. It is also a recognized strength of CUHK, with over 200 faculty members and a number of centres and institutes devoted to various aspects of China Studies.  What is the best way to further enhance China research at the University? Should we focus on a few selected topics that would distinguish CUHK as a world leader? Are there ways to create even more synergies among the centres and institutes, and to promote interdisciplinary research on China?  What role should the Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) play to galvanize China research? 

These and other related topics will be discussed at the ICS Town Hall Meeting, to which all colleagues interested in China Studies are cordially invited.  The Town Hall will be moderated by Professor Alan Chan, Provost and J.S. Lee Professor of Chinese Culture.  We look forward to hearing your ideas charting the direction of ICS and China research at CUHK!
