“Welcoming & Sharing Session – Professor Paola Calanca, the New Head of EFEO Centre Hong Kong”
Professor Paola Calanca is currently Associate Professor at the École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) and a teaching professor at the Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales. From October 2022, she is the new Head of EFEO Centre in Hong Kong.
EFEO is a public research institution founded in 1898 to study the classical civilizations of Asia through the humanities and social sciences.
Professor Calanca’s research focuses on navigational practices and shipbuilding during the 16th and early 19th centuries. She has been involved in two international research projects and preparing a book on the history of Xiamen by examining the material culture of rock inscriptions摩崖石刻.
